Chocolate Macaroons

4 T. sugar

4 T. margarine

2 T. milk

1 tsp. vanilla

8 T. quick cooking Oats

2 T. cocoa

1.)Combine the sugar, margarine and milk in a pan.

2.)Place the mixture on medium heat stirring constantly to mix the ingredients and melt the butter.

3.)Once the butter is melted raise the temperature enough to bring the mixture to a boil, then cook for about 1 1/2 minutes, stirring constantly.

4.) Remove from the heat and add the remaining three ingredients one at a time mixing well after each.

5.) Drop by spoonful onto cookie sheets lined with wax paper. Chill.

Makes about 10 Cookies (just right for those chocolate cravings)

Candy Bars

8 oz.plain flour

4 oz. margarine

2 oz. sugar

12 oz. bag of milk chocolate chips (or dark chocolate if you prefer)

Filling

1 sm. can condensed milk

4 oz. margarine or butter

2 oz. sugar

2 T. corn syrup

1.)Preheat oven to 425 degrees

2.)Cream together margarine and sugar.

3.)Add flour and press into greased loaf pan.

4.)Bake at 425 degrees until golden brown.

Filling: Melt together the condensed milk, margarine, sugar and corn syrup, stirring constantly. Boil for 5 minutes.

Topping: In a heavy-duty saucepan melt the chips over the lowest possible heat. When the chips start to melt, remove them from the heat and continue to stir. Return to the heat again for a few seconds at a time, stirring until smooth. Don't over cook.

Spoon over mixture in loaf pan and place in the refrigerator to set before cutting.

M&M Cookies

1 c. shortening

1 c. brown sugar

1 c.granulated sugar

2 tsp. vanilla

2 eggs

2 1/4 c. sifted flour

1 tsp. soda

1 tsp. salt

1 c. M&M candies

1.)Blend shortening and sugar.

2.) Beat in vanilla and eggs.

3.)Sift remaining dry ingredients together; add to the sugar and egg mixture.

4.)Mix well. Stir in M&Ms.

5.)Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet.

6.) Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown. Makes 100 cookies.

Gingersnaps

1 c. sugar

2 c. all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp. salt

1 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

1 tsp. ground ginger

1/2 tsp. ground cloves

3/4 c. shortening

1/4 c. molasses

1 egg

additional sugar

1.)Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2.)Combine flour, sugar,salt, soda, and spices in a large bowl. Stir well.

3.)Cut in shortening with a knife or pastry blender.

4.) Stir in egg and molasses.

5.)Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in sugar.

6.) Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes or just until tops crack open. Remove immediately to a plate.

Buster Bars

1 pkg. oreo cookies, crushed (or any chocolate creamed filled cookie)

1/2 c. soft butter

1/2 gal. vanilla ice cream

2 c. powdered sugar

1 1/2 c. evaporated milk

2/3 c. chocolate chips

1/2 c. butter

1 tsp. vanilla

1 1/2 c. Spanish peanuts

1.)Mix crushed chocolate cookies with 1/2 cup soft butter.

2.) Pat into 9 x 13 inch pan.

3.) Refrigerate one hour.

4.) Soften ice cream; spread onto cookie mixture and freeze until ice cream is set.

5.) Bring powered sugar, milk, chocolate chips and 1/2 c. butter to a boil in a saucepan. Cook 8 minutes. Remove from heat and add vanilla.

6.)Cool to lukewarm. Sprinkle peanuts over ice cream. Top with cooked fudge mixture.

7.)Place in freezer. When ready to serve set out for 5-10 minutes before cutting.

Chocolate Hermits

1 c. brown sugar

1/2 c. shortening

1 egg

3 rounded tsp. cocoa powder

1 T. oil

1/2 tsp.vanilla

1/2 tsp.soda

1/2 c. milk

1 1/2 c. flour

1/4 tsp. salt

1.)Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2.) Mix all ingredients well in a large bowl.

3.)Bake in greased pan at 400 degrees until done. Do not overcook. Let cool.

4.) Frost with the following frosting.

6 T. milk

1 1/2 c. sugar

6 T. margarine

6 oz. chocolate chips

Combine milk, margarine and sugar in saucepan. Bring to a boil; let boil for 30 seconds. Add chocolate chips. Stir until creamy.

Applesauce Cookies

1/2 c.. butter or margarine

1/2 c. brown sugar

1/2 c. white sugar

1 egg

1 c. chunky applesauce

2 c. flour

1 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp. cinnamon

1 tsp. nutmeg

1/2 tsp. ground cloves

1 c. raisons

1/2 c. chopped nuts

1.)Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

2.) Cream butter and sugars until light.

3.) Stir in egg and applesauce. Add flour and spices. Beat until smooth.

4.)Add raisons and nuts. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.

5.)Bake at 375 degrees until lightly browned, about 7-8 minutes.
