Cooking Light

Spring is right around the corner and it's definately not too early or too late to begin thinking about lighter, healthier eating habits. During the winter months we crave warm foods like soups, casseroles and even desserts. Which in moderation are all fine, epecially when prepared with fat and calories in mind but when we over indulge and get less exercise we put on weight. But there is hope! We can begin to cook lighter by checking the food labels and making better choices. Even a few calories here and there add up.

  1. Choose lean cuts of meat
  2. Choose low fat dairy products
  3. Try adding vegtables to recipes for flavor, variety, vitamins and fiber.
  4. Remember fiber makes you feel fuller and stay full longer.

This page contains links to lighter fare such as salads and Frozen Strawberry-Yogurt Pie. It also contains link to cooking light books that I recommend.

I'll be adding tips for cooking light and more recipes so bookmark this page and check back often.
