Ways to save Money 1.) The very best way to save is not to spend in the first place. We live in a country of extreme abundance. Most of us have closets, attics and basements full of stuff we haven't used in a year or more. Its easy to buy stuff in America. The stores are everywhere and they stay open late, some 24 hours. The merchandise is very enticing, but we have to decide between wants and needs. Our material needs are food, clothing and shelter everything else is our wants ( the extras, the icing on the cake). So think carefully before you buy. Ask yourself is this a want or need? Do I have to have this right now? Will this be truly useful to me? Do I have room to store this? Do I have the money to pay for this? I believe if we are honest with ourselves we won't buy most of the things we put in our carts. Before I go through the checkout line at the store I always go through my cart and ask myself these questions and I almost always put something back. Not buying something you don't need is saving.
2.) If you kept a list of all your monthly expenses I'm sure you could find at least $10.00 to $15.00 dollars in misc. expenses that you could have saved. Things like late fees on video rentals, eating out, impulse buys, that daily candy bar at work (not to mention the pounds it puts on). Some saving solutions might be to rent one less video a month, schedule when you are going to dine out. If you normally go out every Friday change it to every other Friday and bank the difference. Before going shopping make a list of the things you need to buy and get in and out of the store quickly. It's a fact that people spend more for every minute they are in a store. 3.) One of the easiest ways I've ever heard of to save is simply to not spend your change. This is a fun and easy way to tuck away a little money for a rainy day. Here's how it works. You buy a cup of coffee on the way to work. You hand the cashier a dollar or two depending on where you live and what type of coffee you drink, and the cashier gives you back your change. Now you don't spend that change you save it till the end of the day and put it in your piggy bank , coffee can or jar. You do this with everything you buy always using dollars and saving the change and it really adds up. When your change bank fills up roll the coins and deposit the amount into your saving account. 4.) Just start saving even if it's just a little bit each month. It will become a habit that you will enjoy. It will give you a sense of security and possibly even pay for the extras like a vacation, new patio furniture or necessities likes brakes or tires on your car. 5.) Don't be penny wise but pound foolish. Knowing your FICO score can save thousands on buying a house or a car. Having a good FICO score means that you will not only qualify for the loan but that you will also be offered the best interest rates.
